The Precision PE+ Crystal is formulated with a proprietary blend of polyethylene and special copolymers. Built on a nylon monofilament core, the PE+ Crystal’s patent-pending crystal-clear jacket is naturally lighter than water, eliminating the need for micro-balloons or other agents to make it float. The hard, ultra-smooth PE+ line jacket finish has a lower coefficient of friction than any production floating line ever built, so it shoots silently through the guides and casts faster and farther than equivalent PVC-coated floating lines. The tough, new PE+ line jacket is also much more resistant to cuts / abrasion and is fused to the monofilament core with an almost unbreakable bond so nail knots hold securely and there is never any separation of jacket and core. It’s high tensile strength virtually eliminates stretch for instantaneous hook sets and incredible sensitivity. The PE+ jacket is also UV stable, will not absorb water, is highly resistant to chemicals -- and won’t soften or dissolve when exposed to DEET, gasoline or most other solvents. And, unlike PVC-coated fly lines, they are 100% recyclable.

Cortland has got this product right. The line zips through the fly rod guides with such ease that it quickly loads a fly rod. Also, the line practically disappears in the water, and is a distinct advantage when the fish are shy up top. Very supple and tangle free. Will not wilt in the heat too.

I have given that line a real bashing over the past few weeks...five different anglers.....landed 1.2m Milkfish.....90cm Trevally and 1.12m Queenfish on it.....was hot as hell up here at the time...in fact it was that hot our plastic lure boxes bent and warped as well as a small ‘umpqua’ line cleaning box which twisted out of shape....apparently its been the hottest for some considerable time up here. Anyway the line....basic facts as we all saw it...in the main ...was not affected by the heat in anyway that we could tell.

Good Points - Did not clean it once and it still did not attract all the sticky shit that a lot of others do... Was easy to cast even though we don’t use floating lines a lot up here...but was great on the milkies Did not tangle (Although I should mention that when one of the milkies hit and headed to Indonesia the fellow fishing with it had too much line out and it pulled it all up from the floor in one lot and ran a knot through the runners...but even with the fish on we were able to retrieve the line and undo the knot then land the fish) Again love the way that it did not get sticky

Bad Points - The one ‘bad’ point ...if you could call it that....once it was in the water we lost sight of the bloody thing....it become invisible...which may be good for most fishing by for us old bastards it was a bugger to see where our bread flies were with the milkies...
