The Fishpond Microtrash Container is a great idea but lacking in some areas. It is easy to insert a longer section of tippet or line by twisting it into a neat package. However, short tags are a pain to get into the slots. The top comes off too easily, the strap holder on the back it too bulky and short to keep it attached to anything and it’s pretty expensive for what it is. A 35 MM film canister (do they still make those?) with slots in the top or an old leader zip-lock bag would perform the same tasks. It gets and extra star for trying to keep our waterways clean.

I have no trouble wrapping my line around my fingers and easily stuffing it through the lid of this fantastic product. I suppose it helps to have dainty fingers and a bit of patience but helping to keep waterways free of nasty fishing line discard makes it worth the while.

Trying to be a good steward of our streams, I bought this to pack out bits of leader and tippet, like the ads showed; however, trying to get monofilament into this thing is a little like trying to stuff an octopus into a Pringles can. The picture makes it look easy, but reality is somewhat different.
