Goat Head Sole Spikes are carefully designed traction spikes that screw directly
into the soles of most any outdoor shoe. Unlike clumsy strap-on devices that rob
the feel and agility of your performance shoe, you’ll hardly notice your Sole
Spikes except for the earth-gripping traction you gain.
-
Each cup contains 30 quality Sole Spikes made from cold-forged,
heat-hardened, corrosion resistant stainless steel for maximum durability as
well as a 1/4″ magnetic socket bit for EASY installation
-
28 biting edges on each head for superior traction with fewer spikes
-
Serrated flange “locks” the spike into the sole to prevent back-turning and
fall out
-
Easy to install in just about any shoe as our needle point screw tip allows
goes right in without pre-drilling or other methods
-
Short tip and beefy flange prevent accidental push through to the foot
-
Use of Sole Spikes™ can increase the life of your shoe sole (like a hobnail)
-
Small gauge of the tip leaves minimal impact to your sole if you remove the
spikes later. Not much more than if you stepped on a goat head thorn
-
Most importantly, they can help keep you safe!
Whatever your outdoor passion–trail running, fly-fishing,
running on snow packed streets, hiking, adventure racing, or just exploring
rugged terrain, Sole Spikes are constructed to meet the need.

After hearing all the hype of the latest and greatest in wading studs, I gave these a shot. I have to say they did not live up to the rave reviews I had read by others. I fish a river with a bottom ranging from cobbles and boulders to flat bedrock. Having used them on three fishing days so far, they are not as good as I had expected. There were several times what I felt myself sliding around on mossy rocks when I would normally rely on the studs to keep me stable. The water in the river is low now and I can't imagine I'll keep these studs in the boots when the river rises. For nearly $19, you might as well to go the local hardware store and buy some sheet metal screws to put in your boots. I put 15 studs un each boot (more than their recommendation of 12) and was still sliding around.
I had the Simms hard bite studs in before, which were a bit better than the Goat Head spikes. The best wading traction product, far and away, are the Korkers studs. But, those sandals are pretty heavy on the feet.
For what it is worth, I would not recommend these studs to anyone wading in a river with moss covered rocks or anything other than a gravel bottom.
