CIRCA rods are a technologically advanced collection of slow action rods that will appeal to the angler with a slower, more deliberate casting tempo, while realizing a fast recovery, accuracy and overall high performance.

Using Konnetic technology, the CIRCA collection has more carbon fibres packed into a smaller diameter blank, resulting in a radically narrow taper throughout the length of the rod. This results in a consistently slow, yet responsive action from butt to tip.

The casts are methodically smooth and graceful, yet crisp and purposeful. Sensitivity gives the angler precision for the control needed for delicate presentations and is said to be the ideal rod for matching the hatch style fisheries and conditions.

The Sage Z-Axis is probably my favorite fly rod of all time, so I was moderately disappointed when they came out with the One series and took "fast" action a bit too far in my opinion. Now Sage has gone the other direction and they're working the "slow" side of the spectrum. The result is pretty darn good. If you're more into accuracy and a softer touch then the Circa is definitely the way to go. This rods sweat spot is throwing dries in small-to-medium bodies of water, but really it is great with wet flies as well. Not sure I'd go this route if you like chucking streamers in big water, but if you're even thinking about this purchase you probably already know that. I'm giving the Circa 5 stars mostly on grounds it works as advertised - but in comparison I'd have to give the Z-Axis a 6.
