OK you guys. I have the best fishing partner out there. This is my 13 year old - Tom Boy -daughter. This girl is a powerhouse. She plays hard ball on the boys teams, and was on the boys all-star team. Chosen by her coaches, as the best player on the team. Her favorite sport though, is fishing. This little bundle of excitement, can cast a fly line better then me, and the worst part is she catches more fish then me. And one thing is true about fishing, and that is, if you take a kid fishing. They won't stray far from home and better yet, they stay off the drugs.

We took a small vacation down to Southern Utah, into the Boulder mountains. We caught Big Brooke trout, and some Splake. We fished the small lakes, and some of the rivers. Every place we went she would catch the largest fish. Of course they were not always trout. She hooked into one of the biggest suckers I have ever seen and landed it. She played it like a real pro! Usually most girls will go, yuk, come take this thing off for me. Not her. She tossed it back in and went looking for more. She will yell out, "hey dad, come look at this one", then laugh, and say beat that. Guys, I love to brag about this one. She shoots, fishes, and hikes my backside off. She is my very best fishing buddy. 

She really lets me have it when she doesn't get to come with me on some of the fishing trips I take, but she knows that I balance them out as best as I can so she has some fun going too. I hope that one day when she marries, that her husband will remember one thing. It all started out, because she wanted to go with her dad to catch some fish. Whoever this lucky fellow is, should know though, she is good. I only wished someone would have taken my wife out. So I would have more then one partner fishing. But hey guys. When she is ready to marry. She will be the best partner a man could have. 

All kidding aside, though, girls can fish too. So don't be surprised if you see this youngster, small and petite, catching some awesome fish. Oh and one more thing. Her name is Jaclyn. Not Jackie, or Jack. She is all girl, and will let you know her name is Jaclyn. She plays hard, and fishes with the best of them. My best buddy!!!
