Start by tying in two pieces
of goose biot, split from each other to form the tail section. Take a couple of
wraps to make sure that the tail is secure. Next, tie in the gold wire for the rib
section. I like to use a fairly long piece. Now you can tie in the
peacock herl and wrap it forward to form the body of the fly. Tie of the herl
leaving enough room on the hook to finish with the wings and the hackle. Spiral the
gold wire forward, equally spacing it to form the ribs. The wire will also
help secure the peacock herl to the hook, making it more durable. Cut and trim the
excess wire. Once the ribs have been formed you can tie in the hackle. One or
two wraps of the hackle is all that is needed. Take two pieces of white goose biot
and tie it in to form the wings. Split these to form two separate wings. Take
some extra wraps to form a small head for the fly. Finish with a whip know and
head cement.
